Hagfish DeepSea Monsters 1 Oz 1 Dollar Silver Coin USA 2026
Hagfish is the fourth coin in the DeepSea Monsters series, devoted to real creatures from the ocean floor. The hagfish has a skull but no jaws, four hearts and eyes that barely work, and fossils show it has changed little in 300 million years. It finds dead animals by smell and eats them from the inside. When something bites it, it releases litres of slime in under half a second, clogging the attacker's gills – then ties itself in a knot to wipe itself clean. In 2017 an overturned truck of live hagfish covered an Oregon highway in slime.
1 oz of .999 silver, BU quality, 40.6 mm, face value 1 dollar, American Silver Eagle obverse. Only 100 pieces. In a capsule with a certificate – Royal Krakow Mint.
