Elephant Big Five Mauquoy 5 Oz 5000 CFA Francs Silver Coin Ivory Coast 2017

Description

Elephant Big Five Mauquoy 5 Oz 5000 CFA Francs Silver Coin Ivory Coast 2017

The Big Five series by Mauquoy

The Big Five series is struck for the Ivory Coast by the Belgian mint Mauquoy, famous for its ultra-high relief (haut-relief). Each coin shows the head of a wild animal sculpted so deeply that it almost leaves the coin. The antique finish brings out fur, scales and wrinkles of the skin, making it look more like a sculpture than a coin.

Five ounces of silver

The coin contains 5 oz of Ag 999 silver (about 155.5 g). The thick coin allows deep relief, and the worldwide mintage is 999 pieces.

Coin design

The coin shows the head of an African elephant with mighty tusks and wrinkled skin, sculpted in ultra-high relief with an antique finish.

Packaging

The coin comes in a box with a certificate of authenticity.
